Alright, alright, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here… uh… I-C-C-A… Arabian T-20 League, yeah, that’s it. 2022, they say. Now, I ain’t no fancy cricket expert or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I heard and what I saw, kinda sorta.
So, this league, it’s cricket, right? Bats and balls and runnin’ around. They had a bunch of matches, lots of ’em. Felt like every day they was playin’. And folks was keepin’ score, you know, like how many runs and wickets and all that jazz.
I heard tell they call it a “scorecard.” Sounds fancy, but it’s just writin’ down who did what. Like, “this fella hit the ball real far,” or “that fella got out quick.” They got these teams, lots of ’em. Names I can’t even pronounce. Emirates somethin’ or other, and Warriors, and Vision Shipping… sounds like they deliverin’ packages more than playin’ cricket, if ya ask me.
The main thing is, they play, and somebody wins. And then they play again, and somebody else wins, or maybe the same team. It’s like a whole lotta fuss over hittin’ a ball, but hey, folks seem to like it. They got these “live scores” too. That means somebody’s watchin’ and writin’ down what’s happenin’ right then and there. So, you ain’t gotta be there to know who’s winnin’. You can just sit at home and have someone tell ya. Pretty convenient, I guess, if you’re too lazy to go watch yourself.
They got this “points table” too. That’s like a big board where they keep track of who’s winnin’ the most. It’s like keepin’ score for the whole shebang, not just one game. Top team, I guess, gets a prize or somethin’. Maybe a fancy cup, or maybe just bragging rights. I dunno.
- They had a whole “schedule” too. That’s just a list of when the games are gonna be. Like a calendar, but for cricket.
- And they got these “fixtures.” Same thing as the schedule, far as I can tell. Just different words for the same thing. Folks like to make things complicated, I tell ya.
I heard tell there was a “final” too. That’s the big game, the one that decides who’s the best. Vision Shipping played against Pacific Group, they say. Don’t ask me who won, I plum forgot. Too many names and numbers for this old gal to keep straight.
They got “stats” too. That’s all the numbers, like how many runs a fella got, or how many wickets he took. For folks who like numbers, I guess. Me, I just like to see who wins.
And they got “news” and “updates” and “highlights.” That’s just people talkin’ about the games, tellin’ ya what happened, showin’ ya the best parts. Like gossip, but about cricket.
So, this ICCA Arabian T20 League 2022… it was a whole lotta cricket, that’s for sure. Lots of games, lots of scores, lots of talkin’ about it. If you like cricket, I guess you woulda liked it. Me? I prefer watchin’ the chickens peck in the yard, but to each their own, I always say.
And they even got this “ball-by-ball commentary.” Can you believe it? Somebody’s watchin’ every single ball and tellin’ ya what happened. “He hit it to the left! He hit it to the right! He missed it!” Lord have mercy, it’s like they got nothin’ better to do.
Oh, and they got these “fantasy tips” too. I ain’t got a clue what that means. Sounds like makin’ up stories about cricket, if ya ask me. But folks seem to like it, so who am I to judge?
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. A bunch of fellas hittin’ a ball, folks writin’ down what happened, and everybody gettin’ all worked up about it. That’s cricket for ya.
